Justice should be served for all - Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has underscored the need for justice to be served for all irrespective of who is involved in a crime the development of the country.

The call follows the incident that occurred few weeks ago concerning a ‘trotro’ driver and his mate who assaulted a police officer at Malam junction.

The president also observed a similar incident where three police officers assaulted three Ghanaian Times staff including two journalists.

Speaking at the at the annual West Africa Security Services Association (WASSA) get-together in Accra, President Akufo-Addo said that, “It is important for the growth of the society that justice is done to all manner of persons irrespective of who they are.”

He however, remarked that those who assaulted the police officer had been arrested and remanded, applauding the Ghana Police for investigating into the assault of the journalists and interdicting the police who were involved.

Present at the WASSA was the Inspector General of Police, David Asante Apeatu, the Minister of Interior, Ambrose Dery, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ms Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, including the men and women in the police service.

President Akufo-Addo used the occasion to congratulate the police service for the excellent display they put up during the 6th March celebration in Tamale.

He assured the service of his commitment to ensure its enhancement to an international standard.

Meanwhile, the President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Affail Monney, also applauded the Ghana police for interdicting the three who brutalised the journalists.

He was however, of the belief that the action will serve as a deterrent to those whotake the laws into their hands.
