Accra, Oct 16, GNA - Madam Abena Kwallah, 38, former Western Regional Women's Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been appointed as the Director of Outreach and Party Affairs for Papa Owusu-Ankomah, a Presidential Aspirant of the NPP. The Papa Owusu-Ankomah For President Campaign Team, which disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra on Tuesday, said Madam Kwallah's appointment followed her resignation as the Western Regional Women's Organiser of the party.
The team pointed out that in appointing Madam Kwallah to the position of a director, it took cognisance of her rich experience in the Western Region, were the aspirant hails from and a stronghold for his campaign.
"In addition to her work with Women and in the Western Region, Madam Kwallah has an unparallel knowledge of party affairs, virtually having worked with all the leading lights of the party, including Madam Hawa Yakubu of blessed memory, and Mr Peter Mac Manu, the current National Chairman." the team told the GNA. The team expressed the hope that as Director of Outreach and Party Affairs, Madam Kwallah would ensure that the message of Papa Owusu-Ankomah reached targeted audience, thus helping the campaign team to set its strategy and links with the party executives on matters of procedure.
Madam Kwallah, who held the position of NPP Regional Women's Organiser for 15 years, told the GNA that in endorsing Papa Owusu-Ankomah's bid, she took into consideration the capabilities of the current field of aspirants.
Madam Kwallah further stated that she also had direct knowledge of the vision of the aspirant who hailed from Sekondi, coupled with his proven and tangible record of experience and his electoral appeal. Madam Kwallah said, in weighing her decision, she also reviewed her knowledge of Papa Owusu-Ankomah's work in the Western Region, where in addition to fulfilling his duties as Member of Parliament for Sekondi, the aspirant had also played a key leadership role in improving the NPP's fortunes in the Western and Central Regions. 16 Oct 07
