The Aspiring women organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ellembelle Constituency of the Western Region, Ms. Gifty Araba Kwofie has called on supporters of the opposition NDC party to unite ahead of the 2020 general elections.

Speaking to the media after a branch meeting held at Bomoakpole on August 1, 2017, she said irrespective of the challenges that led to the party's defeat in the 2016 polls, there is the need for unity.

She pointed out that in as much as we may have our differences, there is no need to go public since a lot is expected from us as a formidable political party in opposition.

She said the NDC had done a lot for this country and still has a strong message for Ghanaians in 2020 and before this could be translated into forming a government, the party must be seen to be united and ready to take over, power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by President Nana Addo.

"We should demonstrate this by standing together and be united so that we can wrestle power from the substandard NPP government", Ms Araba Kwofie emphasized.

With the upcoming constituency elections, the Ellembelle women organizer hopeful told the media that she is ever ready for any competition as the NDC is a democratic party.

She added that the NDC being Democratic party believed in competition but this, "should not tear the party apart since Ghanaians have a lot of hope and confidence in the NDC to develop the country again and manage the resources of the country in a prudent manner, the NPP government is mismanaging our resources".

According to her, in as much as an aspirant might want to outwit his or her opponent, it must be done in a decorous manner.

Ms Araba Kwofie indicated that the ordinary Ghanaian who is languishing in abject poverty is looking up to NDC to come to power in 2020 therefore " if we keeping fighting amongst ourselves, they won't take us seriously".

Ms Araba concluded that the ruling government is not ruling the country well as they promised us in 2020 to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths.

"We can't pay our electricity bills, water bills, youth employment beneficiaries are not being paid for five months, Ghanaians are weeping, Ghanaians can't wait for the NDC to come to power in 2020", she lamented.

Ms Araba Kwofie expressed her dissatisfaction with Finance Minister, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta's response to issues surrounding the $2.25 billion domestic bond in his recent appearance in Parliament.

“The NPP has done nothing than to create, loot and share in government so let’s stay focused to kick them out in 2016”.
