Media personnel in the Upper West region have called on political parties to play by the rules and allow independent governance institutions namely, the Electoral Commission, Security Services and the Judiciary to execute their mandate without any interference.
The institutions must also reciprocate by being steadfast, unbiased and act without fear or favour to build confidence and trust for the electoral process.
The media personnel said this in a communiqué issued at the end of a one-day training in Election reporting organized by Action for Sustainable Development (ASUDEV) in collaboration with STAR Ghana in Wa.
On their part, the media personnel pledged to be truly non-partisan and neutral in playing their gate keeping role towards violent-free, transparent and credible elections in December.
They promised to abide by the Ghana Journalist Association code of ethics and the National Media Commission code for election reporting and guided by the National interest in their programming and reportage. **
