The Greater Accra Regional arm of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has asked Ghanaians to ignore Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, a suspended prominent member of the party, who recently signed the petition book opened at Accra-based Radio Gold to pile pressure on President John Mahama to free the three Montie FM contemnors, who were jailed by the Supreme Court of Ghana.

A statement issued by Alhaji Yusif Fofana, Greater Accra Regional Director of Communications for the NPP, stated that Dr Nyaho Tamakloe was suspended following his “gross misconduct and other reprehensible manoeuvrings”, therefore, his actions and inactions against the party should not be given due recognition by the media.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to once again state unequivocally that [Dr] Nyaho Tamakloe, who shamelessly, describes himself as a founding member of the NPP, is not a member of the party. He is currently facing an indefinite suspension for gross misconduct and other reprehensible manoeuvrings and until same is reversed, no one should associate him with the NPP,” the statement said.

“We are not oblivious of the fact that he has jettisoned all the principles that the NPP tradition stands for and has, in fact, sold his conscience to the governing NDC for mere pittance. He himself once asserted that ‘blood is thicker than water’, apparently admitting that he won't forsake his blood relation, the Mahamas, for anyone. It is, therefore, not surprising that he sees no evil, hears no evil, and will do everything to defend President Mahama and his disappointing NDC government.

“We are, therefore, not surprised that Dr Nyaho Tamakloe has shamelessly decided to join the bandwagon created by some apologetic NDC politicians and government officials by signing that discredited petition, which seeks to mount pressure on the president to free the three Montie gangs. Mind you, these are guys that were convicted of criminal offences upon their own admission of guilt by the nation's Supreme Court.”

The release added: “Meanwhile, this was the same Nyaho Tamakloe that took Sir John, Sammi Awuku, and Ken Kuranchie to the cleaners and called for their dismissal from the NPP for discrediting the courts during the famous election petition of 2012. Today, he is calling on Mahama to invoke article 72 and grant presidential pardon to ‘NDC people’ who have threatened to rape and kill our law lords. How more unprincipled could Nyaho Tamakloe be? Well, this is what bootlicking can do to otherwise fine persons like him. How sad!”

The statement continued: “We do not begrudge Nyaho Tamakloe for supporting the NDC because it is his democratic right, but he should remember that the devil you know is better than the angel you don't know. The erstwhile NPP government did so much for him including making him an Ambassador to Serbia among others, but if he thinks this is how he wants to pay us, then fair enough; posterity shall judge all of us. The NPP is unperturbed by his manifest treachery and legendary ingratitude.

“We are very confident that the good people of Ghana, many of whom are going through untold hardship slapped on them by this incompetent NDC government, will reject them come December 7. We are, thus, very confident that Ghanaians would once again give NPP the opportunity to stabilise the comatose Ghanaian economy, provide jobs to the teeming youth, and, ultimately, restore hope in our governance regime for God and country.”
