A member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications team Moro Kabore has described Montie three petitioners as ‘intellectual illiterates’ who are oblivious of their actions.

Some bigwigs in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have signed the petition book soliciting signatures asking the president to grant the trio amnesty.

Speaking on Ultimate Fm’s Fact File hosted by Julius Caesar Anadem, he lashed out at petitioners who keep mounting pressure on President John Dramani Mahama to pardon the trio.

“Ministers of state, Members of Cabinet petitioning President Mahama to invoke Article 72 to pardon the Montie three…..they don’t understand that particular provision in the constitution. Anybody who has signed does not understand the constitution. The NDC people who have signed are intellectual illiterates, am telling you, am being very straight with them.

No intellectual literate person would go and a sign a petition advising president Mahama to go and invoke a particular clause in the constitution when that the Supreme Court, the apex court of the land has just taken a decision and you want the president to go and abuse the constitution. I don’t believe where they read the subsequent provision that comes after article 72, because if they have, the last thing they would do is to go and sign a petition. Hypocrisy is crippling into our body politics,’ he fumed.

He described suspended member of NPP Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe who has also signed the petition book as a ‘hypocrite’.

The three contemnors Alistair Nelson, Godwin Ako Gunn members of NDC and Salifu Maase alias Mugabe (Presenter) were on last week Wednesday jailed four months each by the Supreme Court.

The trio were found guilty of scandalizing the court, defying and lowering the authority of the Supreme Court and bringing it into disrepute.
