The fall of Wa West Constituency, lawmaker, Hon. Joseph Yileh Chireh and others in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries is a good omen for the party, according to the founder and leader of United Front Party (UFP), Dr. Nana Agyenim Boateng.

“It indicates political wind of change in the 2020 polls”, the UPP leader observed when he spoke on ‘Kumasi FM’s ‘Me Man Nti’ evening political talkshow hosted by Nana Yaw Mensah Joel monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

According to Dr. Nana Agyenim Boateng, despite the loss of Joseph Yileh Chireh, the party should not be much worried but rather forge ahead to retain the Wa West parliamentary seat for the opposition NDC.

“Both loser and winners should all come together and ensure the seat is retained”, Dr. Nana Agyenim Boateng advised

Superintendent Peter Lanchene Tuubo, an ex-Executive Secretary to former Inspector-General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu floored incumbent MP for Wa West Joseph Yieleh Chireh in the NDC parliamentary primaries.

Superintendent Tuubo who resigned from the police service to contest the race polled 755 as against 317 gathered by old guard Chireh to represent the NDC in the 2020 parliamentary race for Wa West.

Tuubo’s bravado in resigning from a secure career and jumping into the unknown plane of political contests has surprised many.

He resigned on May 1, 2019 to contest the race.

Social media was abuzz with the news and accompanied by negative footnotes about police officers engaged in partisan politics and its negative impact on efficient enforcement of the law.

Peter Tuubo is noted for speaking out against unprofessional conduct within the law enforcement system in the country.
