The Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Henry Kweku Hayfron has advised school children to take advantage of the interventions being put in place by government and donor partners in the country to improve their standard of education.
He urged them to study hard to benefit from the interventions to be able to become prominent scholars in future.
The MCE gave the advice at a function where education kits were donated to pupils of basic schools in the Ekumfi District at Eyisam near Mankessim.
The kits containing assorted items, were arranged by Mr Abeiku Crentsil, National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ekumfi, formerly Mfantseman East, from Samaritan’s Purse, a non-governmental organisation in the United States of America through Mando Youngsters Christian Club.
Mr Crentsil said the donation of the items to the pupils was a policy to motivate school children to take their education very seriously.
“Our new district can only develop when we take education seriously and turn out the needed manpower to man its affairs,” Mr Crentsil pointed out.
He said he had plans not only to motivate the children but teachers as well, around whom education was centred, so that they would feel happy to deliver.
The NDC candidate expressed gratitude to Mando Youngsters Christian Club through which he got the items from the Samaritan’s Purse for their kind gesture and assured the donors that the items would be put to a good use.
Mr Isaac Kwamina Essel, President of the Club, said as their name implied, their aim was to promote Christianity in schools and appealed to teachers to take the teaching of religious education seriously.
Mr Ibrahim Kweku Dawson, popularly called “Michigan” who contested the NDC parliamentary primary and lost to Mr Crentsil, donated 156 books on computer studies to the basic schools in the new district to be kept in their libraries as a support for the parliamentary candidate’s efforts to promote education in the district.**
