NDC suspends vetting in 3 Ashanti constituencies

Executives of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) have put on hold vetting in three constituencies in the Ashanti Region.

The affected constituencies are Subin, Suame and Asante Akyem North.

The party has begun vetting for aspirants seeking to contest on the ticket of the NDC in the upcoming parliamentary primaries on November 7.

The Communications Director of the NDC, Solomon Nkansah, who attributed the development to varied reasons; also said the vetting was put on hold to enable the party address some concerns raised by some members in the affected constituencies.

“…We always want to undertake steps that will inure to the benefit of the party, as such, the leadership will take its time in arriving at any conclusion so that members that the decision will go against will take it in good faith,” he said.

Meanwhile, four aspirants have been disqualified from contesting in the parliamentary primaries in the Ashanti region. The four include; Jerry John Appiah- Fomena constituency, Gumaga Nmaku- Sekyere Afram Plains, Jude Attuahene-Asante Akim Central constituency and Basiru Amissa-Manhyia.

Solomon Nkansah further revealed that all female aspirants were confirmed while all unopposed candidates were cleared to contest.

General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, described the Ashanti region’s response in respect of the number of aspirants that picked forms to contest as very impressive.
