Ghana’s former High Commissioner to India, Mr Sam Pee Yalley has stated that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not succumb to pressure form critics and outdoor a manifesto that will not address the concerns of Ghanaians.
Speaking on Dwaboase on Power 97.9 FM Friday morning, Ambassador Yalley, who is also a member of the NDC Manifesto Committee, observed that he had listened to arguments from their oppoonents that the umbrella family has no concrete message for Ghanaians ahead of the 2020 polls, wondering why they [the critics] want the NDC to rush and come out with a manifesto which wouldn’t speak to the needs of Ghanaians.
Renowned Metro TV presenter Paul Adom Otchere in his latest documentary that was aired Thursday night profiled some persons within the NDC who John Mahama could settle on as his running mate going into the 2020 elections.
Among them was former Education Minister Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, former Finance Minister Kwabena Dufour, former GNPC boss, Alex Mould and NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah also known as General Mosquito.
But reacting to the documentary, Mr Yalley who said Adom otchere had become too predictable and mischievous stated,”We are not rushing to write a manifesto of falshood and lies; we are writing a manifesto that all Ghanaians will agree to and say it is a social contract instructions … We won’t bring a manifesto that contains 500 promises which we can’t fulfil. We will rather bring out a manifesto the people will see as theirs and say this belongs to us.
Commenting on why the NDC has not appointed a running mate yet, Ambassador Yalley noted that the party was working on getting the right perosn who Ghanaians will see as a better person to compliment the NDC’s flagbearer ahead of the general elections.
“We a re not in a rush to appoint a morkporkpor [a vice presidential candidate that will only act when he is instructed …we don’t want a talking tom of a vice presidential candidate; the NDC is a serious political party that want to do the best for Ghanaians. We won’t appoint a Morkporkpor who will be running to get people kalyppo; we are serious people,” he added while jabbing Vice president, Dr Bawumia who talked a lot about the NPP’s competencies in 2016 but has not performed to satisfaction.
