The dust on the statement by Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Maafo on Aisha Huang doesn’t seem to be settling anytime soon as more controversies are emanating from it.

Latest to add to the controversy is NPP Chairman for the Madina constituency Eric Nartey Yeboah. In a Facebook post, the NPP Chairman indicated that Mr Osafo Maafo’s comment was a truthful statement. According to him, jailing Aisha Huang can’t solve Ghana’s economic problem.

He took a swipe at the opposition NDC for making political capital out of the "true" statement made by the Senior Minister.

He intimated that while the NDC was in power, Aisha Wuang was in Ghana doing galamsey and yet they did nothing about it. So to criticize a government for arresting and detaining Aisha was distasteful.

The NPP Chairman popularly called Chairman Dollar, said that if the Senior Minister would apologize at all, it should be based on the fact that his statement was twisted by the opposition NDC making it look bad in the sight of some Ghanaians.

"When you speak the truth problem, when you lie problem. Is it not true that jailing Aisha Huang would not solve our economic problems? OK now let me ask those who have gotten their speaking mouth back when they were doing edey bee keke wasn't Aisha in Ghana. Did you jail her? Let us think wai", he wrote.

The true intention of the statement was not negative and doesn’t warrant an apology, Chairman Dollar added.
