Charlotte Osei is Chairperson of Electoral Commission
The recent impeachment process against the chairperson of the electoral commission, Charlotte Osei, has forced movie director and filmmaker, Leila Dzansi to express some concerns.
Leila Dzansi argues that the recent impeachment process against Charlotte Osei is all because she is a strong and powerful woman whose courage intimidates the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to her, there is the need for the EC chair to stay strong and committed to her job since no shred of evidence proves foul play on her part.
The investigations into impeachment keep getting interesting as Starrfmonline is claiming that investigations initiated by the finance minister, Ken Ofori Attah, revealed that some payment requests made to the finance ministry after the 2016 elections had specific issues.
The report claims that the EC, has requested some funds from the finance ministry to pay off specific debts accrued during the 2016 elections but it turns out the debt does not exist on the books of the Commission.
The Commission prior to a request from Ministry of Finance asserted that government was indebted to STL an amount of GI-53,883,235 as at 31 December 2016.
To ascertain the veracity of this claim, we reviewed the end of year payment vouchers and noted that all sums of money due to STL including the 53,883,235 Cedis had been paid as at 31 December 2016,” the audit report said.
