NPP supporters should focus on election petition - Fred Oware

Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has urged party members to focus on the election petition instead of internal issues causing confusion and distracting party supporters.

“We need to focus on the issue pending in the Supreme Court rather than allowing Sir John’s case to divide us.”

Mr Oware made the statement when he was commenting on reports that the National Executive Committee (NEC) would meet over calls for the punishment of the party’s General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, for the contemptuous statements he made about the judges of the Supreme Court.

Former President John Kufuor told an Accra based radio station that he supported calls for the resignation of the Mr. Owusu Afriyie.

Speaking on Eye Witness News, Mr Oware said since the matter would be discussed at the NEC meeting, supporters must remain calm and wait for the final decision of the committee.

He explained that some people will have similar views and others will have divergent views on the issue, but at the long run, the NEC will make the final decision and that decision will be implemented.
