NPP youth, women groups urged to ensure victory in 2008

Kumasi, Nov 19, GNA - Mr Peter Mac Manu, National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has advised the youth, women's groups, supporters and rank and file of the party to adopt effective campaign strategies to enable the NPP win the 2008 elections.

Mr Mac Manu gave the advice at a rally organized by the Party as part a two-day National Conference of the Women and Youth Groups in Kumasi on Sunday said the task ahead of the party to win the 2008 elections was enormous and challenging. He said the NPP in its almost seven-year rule had ensured the rule of law, stability, good governance and development of the country. The National Chairman stressed the need for the youth and women groups to educate the people about the achievements of the party to win more souls for the NPP.

Mr Mac Manu noted that the party would not discriminate against any of its flag bearers and expressed the hope that there would be transparency in choosing the leader for the party at the December 22 congress.

Nana Ohene Ntow, General Secretary, noted that "the biggest mistake Ghanaians will make is to return the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to power".

He said the government had done a lot to improve all sectors of the economy and appealed to Ghanaians to appreciate what the government had done and support it in all its activities.

Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, one of the presidential aspirants also said the victory of the party depended on the hard work of the youth, women's groups and supporters and asked them to initiate more policies and programmes to ensure the growth and development of the party. Other speakers included Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor, Professor Mike Oquaye, Professor Kwame Frimpong-Boateng, all presidential aspirants.
