The feud between Gender Minister, Otiko Afisa Djaba and the New Patriotic Party’s(NPP) Northern Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu has taken a different dimension as the duo are booked to meet the National leadership this week over their hostility in the party.

The two made the headlines over the weekend as they went out of control taking an intransigent position over party matters that ought to have been settled quietly within their ranks.

The outspoken Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP on Friday lost his temper and disrupted a meeting that was underway led by the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Otiko Afisa Djaba.

The controversial chairman in the company of some unruly women affiliated to the NPP stormed the meeting vandalizing properties in protest to what he described as the Minister’s disregard for his high office claiming she did not seek his consent before convening her meeting.

Mr. Naabu who described the meeting as “illegal” noted that the Gender Minister has no right to come to the region to organize a meeting without first informing the regional executives, saying that even the president would not throw his weight about in such manner.

“I have told the Minister point blank what she did was wrong. It is unconstitutional and therefore her meeting is illegal,” he declared to the admiration of the women accompanying him.

On the other side, the Gender Minister, Otiko Djaba who is livid about Chairman’s Naabu boisterous bahviour accused Bugri Naabu of handing out government jobs in exchange for items such as cows and goats.

She’s urged the leadership of the party to relieve Bugri Naabu, of his position following his act of lawlessness that has brought shame to the party.

But the Acting General Secretary of the governing party, John Boadu said the disagreement between the two have spiraled out of control, hence the party leadership will intervene to call them to order.

“The fusion of roles sometimes creates this challenges for us and as a party going forward we need to look into that and settle the grey areas. But indeed, someone like Otiko Djaba who holds a party position and also a leader, ought to have been a bit circumspect to have informed the regional Executives about her meeting and visit as well.

“However, even if there was a problem, Bugri Naabu should have restrained his actions and better still lodge a complaint with the party rather than disrupting the meeting. This should not be entertained. Although there have not been any formal complaint, we will invite them to trash out matters. I’m sure this has also come to the attention of the Presidency and may also step in to settle matters between the two, especially as the Minister’s action traveled more than necessary.
