Standard-bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has hailed the Supreme Court’s (SC’s) ruling which allows him to correct any anomalies on his nomination forms.

Dr. Nduom was among 12 presidential candidates who were disqualified by the Electoral Commission (EC) from this year’s presidential election.

But the EC’s move to overturn an earlier ruling by an Accra High which ordered the Commission to allow Dr. Nduom to correct the error on his nomination forms was shot down by the apex court—the Supreme Court.

Consequently, the court ordered the Commission to extend the nomination period to the close of work Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

Speaking to Today in an interview via telephone shortly after the ruling yesterday, the PPP leader who was on a campaign tour in the three Northern Regions said: “the ruling shows that the institutions in the country are working.”

According to him, if the state institutions would be allowed to work without fear or favor Ghana will be a better place to live.”

Although the astute politician admitted the court case had had an effect on his campaign, he was optimistic that victory will be his, come December 7.

In this regard, Dr. Nduom called on PPP supporters to go all out and campaign for votes.

“The court case has gingered us and we are poised for victory and therefore, cannot wait to celebrate with Ghanaians our victory in the December 7 general elections,” Dr. Nduom said.
