General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has described persons criticizing the party for raising concerns about work of the electoral commission as “mental economists”.

He said it would be only propagandists and mental economists who would say parties in opposition always attack the EC without justification.

Speaking to Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm he said, “in psychology, people who address their challenges by stereotyping or using that analogy are mental economists. They don’t analyze issues on their merits before concluding. They always want short cuts to life and so they don’t analyze issues properly.”

He said “so far as the NDC is concerned, we have always stood against anything bad done by the EC even when we were in power. When you go back to 1998, the NDC resisted some decisions y the EC when we felt they were wrong. It was because of the NDC that the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) was formed but we had reasons to boycott IPAC meetings when we felt their actions were wrong.”

He said, unlike the NDC, the NPP does not have a good record when it comes to their workings with the EC

“The NPP may not have a good record when it comes to this and so those making such claims should check the facts before making such conclusions.”

He said the NDC is only criticizing Jean Mensa’s led EC based on facts available and not because it enjoys criticizing the electoral body.
