Police to name more suspects in the bloody NDC meeting

The Police in the Ashanti Region have identified more suspects in the shooting incident at the Ashanti Regional headquarters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that left one person dead on Monday afternoon.

Another person who was also shot is currently in a critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

Four persons, which the Police claim are members of the pro-NDC militia group the Hawks, have since the incident been declared wanted by the Police for allegedly being responsible for the bloody act.

Regional Police public relations officer, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, told Onua FM Tuesday morning that names of more suspects are coming up in their investigation and that those names will today be put out by the Regional Police Command.

“We have more suspected names in the incident,” ASP Ahianyo said on Yen Sempa morning show, but declined to give further details, stating a statement will be issued by the Police Command today.

“We shall put out another statement this morning with the new names so I am waiting for my commander and the crime officer to come to the office for us to prepare the statement and put out the names,” he stated.

One person was shot dead on February 18 at the party’s regional headquarters at a time that some national executives were in a meeting with the Ashanti Regional executives of the party on the upcoming presidential primary.

Reasons for the bloody attacks have not yet been established.

General Secretary of the party Johnson Asiedu Nketia told journalists after the incident that witnesses told him the assailants entered the premises of the party office riding on motorbikes.

The party has condemned the act and vowed not to tolerate any criminal act committed under the guise of any party group. It has thus asked the Police to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book.

Police named four persons-Warrior, Damos, Mejimah and Abu Taliban- as being responsible for the criminal act.
