Show solidarity to party leadership- NDC Youth Organizer

Accra, Sept. 1,GNA- The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Saturday called on all party faithful to exhibit solidarity to its leaderships at all levels to attract others to the party. It said lack of solidarity among party members would go a long way to hamper the efforts of the party to regain power in 2008 Presidential elections.

Speaking at a day sensitization seminar for the Klottey-Korley Constituency of the NDC, under the theme: 'Responsible Leadership, Tolerance and Accountability", Mr. Kofi Adams, Deputy Youth Organizer of the party said the seminar was aimed at bringing a new sense of self-confidence, leadership qualities and empowerment to all the branches in the constituency.

He said solidarity was an important ingredient in the organization of any party coupled with patience and tolerance as a key factor to success.

Mr Adams advised the delegates not to allow themselves to be lured by money from their opponent but follow the legacy and ideology of the founding father and his leadership qualities. " The Founder of the party has sacrificed a lot for this party and the country at large, so let us struggle to keep the flame of the NDC high," he said.

Mr Adams urged all to put the past issues behind and get actively involved in the 2008 election campaign to enable the party win more parliamentary seats in the Greater Accra Region and the ultimate seat of governance.

Mr Jerry Akwei Thompson, Greater Accra Regional Organizer, said, unity, discipline, solidarity and propaganda would be major factors that would enable the party to win the 2008 elections. "Each member has a part to play to strive hard for the NDC to came back to power in 2008," he said.

Mr. Thompson said the party was in the process of sealing all loopholes in its constituency levels that could prevent the party from winning the 2008 parliamentary and presidential elections. "We cannot afford to be at each others throat; that will result in the party being in opposition for 12 years," he stressed. He said every aspirant in the constituencies should be ready to accept election results and support the party thereafter without any protestations.

The programme that brought together branch officers in the constituency and some leading National and Regional Executives of the NDC also saw the swearing -in of a 15-member Council of Elders led by Mr Dyson Pupulampu and a five-member Disciplinary Committee and Response, instituted by the Klottey-Korley constituency. The new structures were intended to play mediation and advisory roles, ensure discipline, harmony and unity among party members in the constituency.
