Sunyani West constituency calls for Hon. Bernard Oduro Takyi as NPP Parliamentary candidate

Bono regional lead local governance advocate, Hon. Bernard Oduro Takyi has taken the lead to battle the current Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah for the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary election for Sunyani West constituency.

The decision by Hon. Bernard Oduro Takyi to contest for the upcoming primaries has caught many attention across the Municipality and Region due to his popularity and high contribution to the NPP in his electoral zone and constituency.

On the 22nd of January, significant number of NPP delegates, party stakeholders and party supporters followed Hon. Bernard Oduro Takyi to the party office to pick up his forms. It was surprising to see the entire community behind him and chanting “Yesesamu” meaning we are "Changing".

The people of Sunyani West constituency for years have expressed their dissatisfaction and disappointment in the sitting MP since his performance is rated below average during his 12 years’ tenure. The recent University of Ghana ranking of performance of MPs saw him rated over 230 out of 275 MPs in Ghana. This has caused a lot of anger and they have moved to support Hon. Bernard Oduro Takyi whom through his initiatives has given water, light, students support, family support and many more interventions to the constituency.

Hon. Bernard Oduro Takyi popularly known as B.O.T is the former presiding member of the Sunyani West Municipal Assembly and former Assembly Member for the Kwatire Electoral Area. He is also an entrepreneur and international speaker who has spoken in over 20 countries globally.

Bernard Oduro Takyi is also the Regional Coordinator of Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs-West Africa (CAYE-WA) whose duty is to promote entrepreneurship and business among the 5 Commonwealth member state in West Africa (Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gambia, Sierra Leon)

Hon. Bernard Oduro Takyi through the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC)-UK led the Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs-West Africa to the 9th Edition of the VIBRANT GUJARAT Global Summit in India January 2019.

Again, Bernard Oduro Takyi served as the President of Commonwealth Hall of University of Ghana. Also he is a 2016 Mandela Washington Fellow and currently promotes peace as a Peace Building Ambassador and Mentor in West Africa.

As a popular voice on the airwaves in Sunyani, the younger generation hails him as the savior and new face of Sunyani West constituency who is highly determined and motivated to end the 12 years’ poor leadership of the incumbent.

Hon. Bernard Oduro Takyi is the leader of the team that started the campaign for 5% Assembly common Fund to be given to assembly members for them to be well resourced and empowered to undertake their mandate as grass root development and governance agents.

As a renowned speaker and youth development activist, Bernard has shared platforms with many global leaders in business, politics and governance which put him a very good lead ahead the incumbent.

His vision is premised on New Plan for Sunyani West.
