Bayern Munich striker Kwasi Okyere Wriedt will have to consider leaving the Bavarian giants to have a better chance of impressing Ghana’s technical team for a second opportunity.

The 24-year-old, who earned his first call-up for the double-header of friendlies against Japan and Iceland in May/June, is one of the notable absentees from the current set-up currently in camp for Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya.

The striker largely features for Bayern’s second team who play in the Regionalliga – the German fourth division - and has only twice played for the first team since joining the side in summer last year.

“I have personally advised him about his situation,” Ghana assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko told Goal.

“He’s a very good player that we would ordinarily want to have in the team. He has to try to move from the second team of Bayern Munich. Even if he’s playing in the German second division, it will be better than playing in the Bayern second team.

“He’s not out but this time, we decided to go in for Raphael Dwamena and debutant William Owusu whom we have been monitoring for long and want to give a chance to prove his worth because he plays in a position in which we think we are still lacking – the striking position.

“Last time, we went with him [Wriedt] to Japan and Iceland and we saw what he can do. We think this new guy also has the potential, so let’s see what he can also do.

“He [Wriedt] is still definitely in our plans and we are still monitoring him.”

Wriedt made his Ghana debut as an 83rd minute substitute in the 2-0 win over Japan before coming on for the last 21 minutes of the 2-2 stalemate with Iceland.
