The founder and leader of the All People’s Congress [APC], Mr Hassan Ayariga has said the decision to compile a new voters' register by the Electoral Commission [EC] is absolutely neeedless.
“No, not this time,” he disagreed with the electoral body.
According to him, the EC has not given a firm proof that a new voters’ register is crucial for this year’s elections after insisting that the EC is only seeking to dissipate taxpayers' money on wasteful ventures.
He said indeed if the new voters' register is crucial enough, the EC should have started the compilation of the electoral roll in 2019 ahead of this year's election.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and five other political parties last Saturday organised a demonstration in Tamale to express their displeasure over the EC's decision to compile a new voters register for the December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
