Unemployed remanded for robbing a student of UEW

The Winneba District Magistrate Court has remanded an unemployed into prison custody for robbing a student of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) of his belongings at knife point.

Richard Koranteng’s plea was not taken by the court presided by Mr Oheneba-Kuffour and is to re-appear before the court on November 6.

Chief Superintendent Godfrey Tetteh Adjirakor said on 21st October at 0500 hrs Mr Aybesi a student of UEW, with the help of others brought Koranteng to the police station.

He said the witnesses reported that at about 2230 hrs on 20th October, the suspect and his accomplish Enoch Bonney now at large, attacked him at Ateitu, a suburb of Effutu Municipality, with a knife and robbed him of his personal belongings including mobile phones.

Chief Superintendent Adjirakor said after the act they were about to flee the scene when with the help of some people in the area, Koranteng was arrested but his accomplice Bonney managed to escape.

He said at 0800 hrs Enoch Bonney was arrested at his hideout upon a tip off by an informant of the police with the items.

He appealed to the public to continue to assist the police in its fight against crime, by volunteering information that would lead to the arrest of criminals and robbers in the society.
