A private legal practitioner and former Member of Parliament (MP) for North Dayi, George Loh, has asked the petitioners in the alleged corruption case against Electoral Commissioner, Charlotte Osei to show their faces.

The lawyer’s comments come after some yet-to-be known staff of the Electoral commission (EC), in July, petitioned the president, Nana Akufo-Addo, over an alleged misappropriation of funds by Mrs. Osei which has led to the setting up of a committee, by the Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo, to probe the EC chair and her two deputies, Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwa.

The three appeared before the committee which was heard in camera, on Monday, December 11, 2017.

Charlotte Osei is to answer to six out of 27 allegations levelled against her by her two deputies.

Speaking on Morning Xpress on Radio XYZ Tuesday morning on the matter that has attracted public interest, Mr. Loh said though the case depicts how formidable Ghana’s democracy is, he thought it was best the petitioners showed their identities.

“She must know her accusers. The anonymity of the petitioners is a problem for some of us,” he said, defending that it will help in many ways.

Fairness

George Loh believes regardless the controversies surrounding the case, everybody be given a fair hearing.

“We are watching the process closely. It is a process that is in line with the constitution, but we are hoping that we have some fairness and a high degree of due process in the matter,” he advised.

Hidden Petition

Meanwhile, Mrs. Charlotte Osei has petitioned President Akufo-Addo to help her have access to the petition seeking her removal from office.

“Respectfully your Excellency, I would appreciate being furnished with a copy of the said petition to enable me obtain the requisite advice I may need on the matter,” a part of the petition said.
