A member of the Subsidiary Legislation Committee of Parliament, Ben Abdallah Banda has assured that no Ghanaian will be left out in the upcoming voters’ registration exercise.

A pilot exercise conducted between Tuesday and Wednesday was characterized by delayed processes and technical malfunctions across various registration centres around the country.

The minority has consistently rallied against compiling a new register citing defects with the CI 126 laid before parliament for the EC to carry out the exercise.

The caucus also maintains that many Ghanaians will be disenfranchised due to the demand for the Passport, or NIA card as verification documents to obtain the new voter’s card.

However, the Offinso South lawmaker insists everything is under control.

“It’s not difficult at all, nobody will be left behind. Everybody will be registered. If as a nation we take a day to vote and elect members of parliament and elect a president of the Republic of Ghana, why is not possible for us to use a month or 40 days to register about 15 million potential voters in Ghana here who will be deciding the fate of a president or a member of parliament.

“We can, it’s just a matter of creating as many polling stations as possible and engaging as many personnel as possible and procuring as many registration machines as possible and we as potential voters and electors putting up the necessary operation that requires us to also assist the EC officials to speedily register the number of Ghanaian people who are supposed to be registered,” he told host Francis Abban.
