Fearless and controversial Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, has criticised his own government labelling the NPP as “sick”.
According to him, the party lacks competent men to handle some affairs of the country, particularly, illegal mining and port charges.
Agyapong was speaking as a panel member together with NDC’s Alottey Jacobs during a discussion on Adom TV as monitored by YEN.com.gh.
He said plainly that he was not enthused about the government awarding the contracts of regulating illegal mining to “outsiders” when that was supposed to be done by competent men in the NPP.
Agyapong was also wondering why the government would hire the services of consultants and pay them huge sums of money with taxpayers’ money for a work to be done by government officials.
Some of the consultants, Kennedy Agyapong lamented, were NDC people.
He indicated that when the NDC was in power, it never gave members of the NPP such contracts; complaining that “NPP we understand democracy too much.”
“It is good that the government is coming to lift the ban on illegal mining and bring regulations but NPP we have a problem, we understand democracy too much. They are now coming to set up committees and put Alottey Jacob’s people (NDC) on it,” Kennedy Agyapong said.
He further complained about the government’s quest to make more money through ‘killer’ taxes at the port.
This, he said, would affect the NPP it they do not take a second look at the port charges again.
He had earlier said that the 'killer' port charges would send the NPP back to opposition.
“NPP we don’t learn, me I will say it… I don’t have a problem. It is true, it is my party. But the way we want to make the money, trust me, it will affect them,” Kennedy Agyapong said angrily in the video.
Kennedy Agyapong was in the news recently also criticising the government over the current “dumsor”.
He said after two years, the government had no excuse to solve the power outage or blame it on Mahama.
Kennedy Agyapong was also in the news asking Ghanaians to blame the cedi depreciation on the government.
He was recently enskinned as chief in Lawra in the Upper West Region.
