Convener of Economic Fighters League, Ernesto Yeboah has described Ghana’s democracy as a fake one enshrined in a deceitful constitution.

Speaking at the official launch of ‘Civil disobedience’ in Accra, he quizzed, “Where is the democracy? when elected employees do what they like whether we like it or not. We say we do not want a cathedral, they say we will build... we say we don’t want a new chamber, they arrest us, abuse us and molest us just to silence us. What we have is a fake democracy created and sustained by a sakawa constitution”.

According to him, Ghanaians stand in long queues every four years to vote for people who have selfish ambitions and do not care about the welfare of its citizens.

Ernesto Yeboah said, “There is no democracy in Ghana. What we have is a performance of democracy where the representatives represent their own interest, the people have no power whatsoever except once every 4 years when they have to form long queues to vote for people who don’t care about their welfare”.

He further explained that after these people have been voted into power, they become myopic to the developmental projects which need to be worked on in the country, instead, request for needless things such as building a national cathedral and new chamber in the country.

“Where is that democracy when servants have become masters and those who are supposed to be masters need to beg for their basic necessities?", he quizzed.

Making a unity call on Ghanaians, he entreated all to come together and fight against the building of the proposed new chamber in parliament which costs $200m.

He averred that, building a new chamber is needless hence, that huge sum of money should be channeled into developmental projects, payment of teachers and trainees allowances, among other beneficial works.

The convenor of Economic fighters asserted that, Ghana has been hijacked and held hostage by people whose only role is to protect their interest whilst citizens pay for the consequences of their actions and inactions.

He, therefore, called on all to work as a team to take the country back from the “claws of the vampires and set the agenda for a new future of prosperity and success”

Background
