Residents of Foase in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region have warned President NanaAddo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NewPatriotic Party (NPP) not to dare campaign at Foase during the coming 2020 general elections because they are heaping stones, catapults waiting to pelt him, MyNewsGh.com has filed

Foase community on Thursday, December 13, 2018 was turned to mourning as four people who were shot dead by police during a protest over the relocation of the district capital were laid to rest

The deceased persons, all males died when police reportedly opened fire on a group of residents protesting the relocation of the Atwima Kwanwoma District capital from Foase to Twedie.

They are Kwadwo Fori 47, Douglas Addai 35, Prince Boateng 29 and Danso Seth 24 whose mortal remains were interred amidst curses by wailing women on their alleged killers.

It would be recalled that the four persons on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, after the residents locked up the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Atwima Kwawoma District Hon Okyere Tawiah over the relocation of District capital from Foase to Twedie.

This was after a clash ensued between the irate residents and the Police Officers who were deployed to the area to maintain law and order and decided to unlock the DCE.

The Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) constituted a three-member committee to investigate the Foase shooting incident and unravel the perpetrators behind the crime but till date the report is yet to be presented.

Speaking to MyNewsGh.com reporters at the event, residents blamed Nana Addo’s government for the clashes which led to the death of the 4 residents.

According to them residents, Foase community will be a no go area for President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020elections.

“Former President John Kufuor gave Foase district capital, John Mahama came to be president of Ghana but he and his government didn’t make an attempt to remove the district. Nana Addo and his NPP came to power and due to their selfish interest they want to remove the district capital. Look at what has happened. Innocent souls have been lost. We have regretted voting for Akufo-Addo. 2020 we will show Nana Addo and vote for Mahama” they said.
