We decided we did not want an American base during Kufours time because of the negativity it attracts but then turn around ands bring in terrorists knowing very well about 90% go back to their old ways. Isn't it ironic that back in 2007, the NDC and rented mouths like Kwesi Ratt rose up and vehemently opposed President Kuffour and went to town on Ghana being approached by the Americans over the possibility of head quartering their African Central Command in Ghana, the same base that went to Djibouti and which would have given us some spinoff much needed jobs and infrastructure. There, ladies and gentlemen, that is how we went from being a sovereign state to being a client state of the USA.
Corruption, incompetence, mismanagement and propagandist rule has its price. You would be picked up for cheap, which is what we are now seeing. Can you ever imagine Ghana asking the same favour in reverse to the USA, i.e. we also horse trading our hard core criminals and terrorists to the USA? Your guess is as good as mine.
We have to ask ourselves very serious questions. Have we become so lame, as a result of self-inflicted bad governance and corruption, we are now a walkover? We pay the highest interest rate to sovereign bonds in all of Africa, neighbouring countries send their citizens to freeload on our health insurance and the NDC gov't looks sideways so that they can vote for them, government ministers conspire with contractors to over invoice projects; we cannot even collect court ordered money from Woyome, etc.
Whilst this Guantanamo prisoners are here, will they be able to mingle with local Muslims, go to mosques and pray freely, acquaint and befriend pliable Muslim youth (don't forget some have already left to join ISIS), and have access to the internet? What is there to stop them from collecting the email addresses and cellphone numbers of the kids and passing them on to link up with the real bad guys in the Middle East? I tell you, we have been had for cheap and stupid. John Mahama is just not street smart. These people hate Christians period. So how is dummy Mahama going to integrate them into our community when they are avowed enemies of our Christian values? There are about 22 Arabic speaking countries in the Arab League and 50 Muslim majority countries in the world. So why not over there in anyone of those countries where they will be more at home organically? Why Ghana of all places?
America gives about $5 billion dollars free grants to Egypt and $10billion dollars free money to Israel every single year. Whatever they give us is nothing compared to what USA gives to Egypt alone every year. So why in the world would John Mahama think he has to bend so backwards to kiss Barack Obama's ass? Something tells me we have a spineless jackass for a president. He in all probability cared for looking friendly to Obama than caring for our national security. He perhaps thought he can squeeze some dollars out of the stipends the Americans will give for the upkeep of the two terrorists.

Considering how our greed and personal interests can put the lives of innocent citizens in danger while we care less about it. How on earth will Ghanaians sit and watch their government take such a drastic decision which is putting the lives of over 20 million citizens in danger? The people break my heart, they have disappointed me and even scared me for the very first time in my life.
When asked why the people should be blamed; He said '' Oh yes they voted for this government, and I know of the many futile exercises they have embarked on against the government especially since the mysterious demise of my very good friend, Late Professor John Mills but this one is a different case and must be treated differently by the entire citizenry regardless of their political affiliation as this act put every one there in that country into danger.
Look I know Ghana very well, I have been a teacher there and I even met my first wife there. Not alone but I have seen the place like my second home and have had personal relationship with their presidents in the past.

As campaign promise, President Barack Obama said he intended to close the Guantanamo Bay detention camp (GITMO), and planned to bring detainees to the United States to stand trial by the end of his first term in office. On 22 January 2009, he issued three executive orders. Only one of these explicitly dealt with policy at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, and directed the camp's closure within one year. All three could have possibly impacted the detention center, as well as how the United States holds detainees.
While mandating closure of the detention camp, the naval base as a whole is not subject to the order and will remain operational indefinitely. This plan was thwarted for the time being on 20 May 2009, when the United States Senate voted to keep the prison at Guantanamo Bay open for the foreseeable future and forbid the transfer of any detainees to facilities in the United States. Senator Daniel Inouye, a Democrat from Hawaii and chairman of the appropriations committee, said he initially favored keeping Guantanamo open until Obama produced a “coherent plan for closing the prison.” As of November 2015, 107 detainees remain at Guantanamo.

The two persons involved have been investigated and found to have commited neither terrorism nor any other crime. The only reason we are afraid of them is their connection with Alqaeda. There is no need for such a belief because they are not being imprisoned Ghana. On the contrary, they themselves are happy to be given refuge in Ghana. Even terrorists don't just attack without reason. Our military is not engaged in any confrontation with entities connected with any terrorist group. These refugees will be harmless unarmed civilians in Ghana. There is no reason to fear them.

Their presence anywhere is toxic, and likely to lead to violence. America wants to get rid of its garbage, and as usual, there is some stupid black man somewhere who will gladly accept the white man's garbage. The idiocy and naked stupidity of the people who we select as our leaders is the very reason why we remain backward, undeveloped, and will remain so. Here is a country that cannot supply electricity to keep its lights on, that cannotafford classroom for its children to study, and yet has the resources to accomodate prisoners that the US wants to get rid off.
I am shaking with anger as I write this. I am non-partisan, but I think this Mahama guy and the bunch of fools who are ruling Ghana now must leave when the next election cycle come around. So far this administration has been a complete disaster, and the manifest idiocy and incompetence they have shown is mind boggling.

We should not get too emotional about the transfer of the detainees. We must be circumspect and I think the Christian Council of Ghana has spoken too early because of the religious angle that could easily be misunderstood.

They were picked up and jailed without trial because, somehow, they were associated with Taliban, or Alquaeda. Taliban was a Government in power. PNDC was in power when innocent people were kidnapped from their homes and butchered. Yet, no one in the Government other than those who committed the crime were tried. Even Rawlings was not charged, nor imprisoned for the crime. We forgave him. So why do you think that those two Muslims had something to do with 9/11? The US government could not find credible evidence to bring them to trial. So my dear friends of CCG, the two gentlemen are not ex-convicts. The basic tenets of all religions and cultures is LOVE. Let us show love to the two men to have free life. We do not have to follow the white men who held the bible in their hands to destroy Muslims some thousands of years ago.
