Other parties wanted me as Vice president – Dzogbenuku

The vice presidential nominee of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Brigitte Dzogbenuku, has disclosed that the PPP was not the only party that approached her to be a running mate in the 2016 elections.

“Indeed the PPP is not the first party to have approached me for a running mate position,” she told Moro Awudu on Inside Politics on Thursday August 4 shortly after she was named by the party’s flagbearer, Papa Kwesi Nduom.

The former beauty queen explained that she accepted to be Dr Nduom’s running mate because his visions for Ghana were in tandem with hers.

“He told me about his plans, his 10-point plan for the country. He told me about what they (PPP) want for this country and it seems they aligned with what I want for this country and I know it is not remote, it is not a pipe dream, it is something that can be done, and they were simple things and that was what convinced me,” she stated.

“Indeed, when I spoke to him and he spoke to me, he sounded like he was campaigning to me and I could tell this person was passionate about what he was talking about and he’s not just talking about it because he wants to be in power, he is talking about it because he wants things to change in this country. It’s not only about winning. …Ghanaians are very conservative …and indeed, the PPP is not the first party to have approached me for a running mate position. So, when this came again, I said: ‘Well I do have something to contribute,’ and, indeed, that is what I thought about, so I said let me do it.”
