Credible information reaching Kasapafmonline.com indicate that the ruling National Democratic Congress is contemplating postponing its campaign launch slated for this weekend ahead of the December general elections.
The event has been scheduled for 1300hours, Sunday August 14, at Cape Coast in the Central Region.
Deep throat sources within the party say, the hierarchy has been compelled to deliberate on the matter, following a ban on noise making in the Cape Coast Metropolis heralding the Fetu Afahye festival.
The NDC at a Press Conference at its Headquarters in Accra on Monday announced that the campaign launch will also witness the outdooring of its presidential candidate and outline the party activities for the impending December 7 polls.
It remains unclear the sort of discussions that went into the final settling of Cape Coast as the venue for the event, as the Central Regional Branch of the party would have been in a better position to alert the party of a ban on noise making in the area.
This website is reliably informed that this development has gotten some of the regional executives angry as they feel slighted.
Meanwhile, the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has accused the Oguaa Traditional Council of being bias towards the ruling party as it has allowed the NDC to launch its campaign in Cape Coast when there is a ban on noise making.
The Cape Coast North and South Parliamentary Candidates of the PPP, Sarah Ewuraesi Bucknor and Bright Edem Drofenu at a press conference demanded answers from the Chiefs why the NDC has been cleared to go ahead with its event.
They want to know why the chiefs are treating the NDC with kid gloves when orders of the Traditional Council should not be flouted by any group or individual.
But the Council in a response has said it is not aware that the NDC has an event this weekend in the area, as they only heard the news in the media.
The Council insists the ban is still in full force and whoever breaches the directive would be dealt with ruthlessly.
