A pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth group, who calls themselves Coalition of Youth Against Propaganda (CYAP) in the Weija-Gbawe constituency of the Greater Accra Region, has condemned “attempts by the constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)” to influence the electorate with money and other items so as to vote for the NDC in the December polls.

Addressing a press conference in Weija at the weekend, the group alleged that the Weija-Gbawe constituency branch of the NDC was engaging in “vote buying.”

This alleged tactics by the NDC, the group fumed, were attempts to hoodwink the electorate in the Weija-Gbawe constituency to vote for them (NDC) in both the presidential and the parliamentary elections.

“It is sad to know that the NDC is embarking on such a desperate measure as a last resort to lure the Ghanaian voter in Weija-Gbawe to cast his or her vote for the NDC,” the group, led by its Communications Director, Mawuli Agbemafle, noted.

In view of this, the CYA sent a clear signal to the NDC that voters in Weija-Gbawe were discerning and therefore will not succumb to such “inferior and undemocratic campaign tactics which intended purpose is meant to prevent voters from voting for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah, the NPP presidential and parliamentary hopefuls in the 2016 elections respectively.

The group stated that it was evident that the NDC in the Weija-Gbawe constituency has seen a sign of defeat and rejection by electorate in the constituency.

“The NDC, as alleged, is on the ground influencing voters with money in match boxes and promises which are not achievable. This is purely unacceptable and disgraceful in the political history of Ghana and most especially in this era where the voter is highly sophisticated and would vote against such act,” it stressed.

In this regard CYA entreated voters in the Weija-Gbawe constituency not to allow their conscience to be bought by the NDC with any amount of money to the detriment of their future and their children’s future.
