Knowing the Saudi police it would be next to impossible for such a crime to be committed in Riyadh and get away with it.
My first Hajj trip was in 1996 and at the Jeddah airport I decided to wear a pair of shorts because it was very hot. My goodness! Some Saudis yelled at me and told me if the Mutaweens get hold of me I would be jailed or deported. So I had to quickly go back and wear my long "robe". As if that was not bad enough, I was traveling from Mecca to Jeddah in the car of the then Ghanaian Consular(Al Hajj Ibrahim Abass) and was shaking my head in response to music from a cassette, guess what? He told me point blank that I was putting his life in danger because the Mutaween could stop us and send me straight to jail and he could be reprimanded or punished for allowing an act of "haram" to be practiced on Saudi soil.
So if wearing a pair of shorts or making body movements in a diplomatic car(CD registration) could send me to jail, how come those alleged criminals are roaming freely in Riyadh of all places? Mr. Ambassador, I know Riyadh, and I know the Ghana Embassy, long before you set foot on Saudi soil, I simply don't believe you. Haba Mallam!
