Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Abasinaab Apaak, has thanked former President John Dramani Mahama for giving him the opportunity to serve in his out-gone government.

In a terse statement copied to The Enquirer, Apaak said he was grateful to President Mahama for offering a person like him, who has no political godfathers the chance to serve at the Presidency.

“Dear H.E JM. Thank you for giving me, a boy from Doninga with no big family name, with no relative in a high place or government, the opportunity to serve you in your Presidency for the past four years.

My only credentials were my advocacy for good governance and justice, especially in our nation's judiciary and justice delivery system, my academic and professional qualifications and my membership of the NDC; no godfather nor godmother”, he stated.

He continued “Yet you spotted me and found me worthy to serve. Indeed my life will never be the same: the assignments, the experience in contributing to the governance of Ghana have greatly added value to me.

A billion thanks to you for visiting Builsa South twice in one year. Boss JM, God bless and protect you and your family!”

Until recently, Dr. Apaak was the Director of the Citizens’ Complaints Unit at the Office of the President (OOP) and one time spokesperson of the Presidents Revenue Mobilization Task Force which helped to retrieve about Gh¢1billion from tax defaults in the import and export sector who used the bonded warehouse system as a conduit to defraud the state going back to 2005.

Apaak was among the 275 Members of Parliament who were sworn in as the seventh parliament of Ghana at Parliament House in the early hours of January 7, 2017.
