I'm saddened by the entrenched position of Mr Cheremeh b'cos it's the same stubbornness that sent the NDC into opposition (remember the dead goat syndrome?). As Adu Boahen once wrote, "politicians learn history but fail to learn from history". From all indications, the chiefs want to smoke a peace pipe with Mr. Cheremeh. What can then he gain politically from his entrenched position? A word to the wise is enough!!

Prof. Issifu who cares about how you came to exercise your franchise as a good citizen? Are you with all your learning endorsing the behavior of this Sunyani Chief who clearly chooses to go against the constitutional provision of chiefs not to dabble in active partisan politics? If the chief has decided to go partisan, what stops the then Secretary of the opposing party, now Reg. Minister elect, from reminding the Chief of the Constitutional provision appertaining to Chiefs? (remember, the gentleman is a lawyer, who must uphold the law)
This backward culture of Chiefs and generally the elderly always considered right in all public discourse no longer has place in our modern democratic dispensation and the earlier some of these errant chiefs get it right the better it would be for them to continue to exude the respect and awe attached to their positions as chiefs. We do not want yet to do away with the chieftain institution therefore our chiefs should quickly learn to stay away from the past and live in the present.
Which behavior is desirable; that of the chief who clearly is out of constitutional order or the minister elect who was asking the chief to be mindful of an act that would bring him into disrepute? Why then should the Minister elect apologize? Apologize for saying the right thing which in effect would maintain the sanctity of that institution ?

This is the last comment from me on this matter. First, I thank all those who have commented on my friendly advice to Mr. Cheremeh. I'm not asking him to go an apologize to the Chief. He took a stand for a political purpose and has won. It's time to make peace with his detractors and move on to greater heights. It's not right for chiefs to dabble in politics and I'm convinced both the Sunyani chief and Dormaahene have learned their lessons. Though they may not admit it publicly. What other lesson is left to be taught them? Those who wield power but exercise humility are always admired by voters. Taking an entrenched position isn't in the best interest of anyone, especially Mr. Cheremeh because politics is like a game of chess! Every river wants to reach the ocean but it's the few that are able to avoid resistant rocks that eventually get there! I rest my case!!

Sunyani Traditional Council wants to pull a fast one after failing to deliver 80% votes to the NDC.Now that NDC has been disgracefully trashed and routed, the Sunyani Traditional Council is looking for avenues to cover it's shame and disappointment.Otherwise, what is the sense in revisiting an issue that has already been sorted out? The Sunyani Traditional Council could also be trying to 'eat with both hands' from NDC and NPP as well.Knowing very well that it[ the Sunyani Traditional] had already taken it's'due' share of NDC free stuff before the elections, the Council sees this time as an opportune one to use 'patapaa' by using Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh's nomination as a 'vague, concocted and dubious' traditional avenue to exact'SOMETHING' from NPP government.The Sunyani Traditional Council is not representing all of the Brong Ahafo region.Next time round the Chiefs should mind their utterances and limit of their involvement in politics because the parties that the chiefs like and support are not the same as of all their subjects.A word to the wise......
