Former Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon Nii Amassa Namoale has finally revealed that his defeat was caused by his regional executives. According to the man who is lasing his boots to contest the flag bearer position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2020 Presidential elections said the regional executives became uncomfortable with his sincerity hence plotted his defeat.

The former La Dadekotopon legislator who was guest on Onua Fm morning show ‘Yen Nsem Pa’ posited that some of the regional executives who will not go on radio to bad mouthed him, personally resorted to sending him text messages of how they wanted him out of parliament due to his frankness. He revealed that “At a point, my regional executives thought I was being too frank with issues, they were uncomfortable that if the thing is ‘blue’ I say it as it is and that made them orchestrated my defeat, I know”

Nii Amassah Namole, lost the La Dadekotopon seat to former Chief Executive Officer of Accra Hearts of Oak football club Vincent Sowah Odotei in the 2016 Parliamentary elections after polling some 38,504 votes as against 40,126 votes.

Namoale has since declared his intention to lead the NDC in the 2020 Presidential elections. However his announcement has been met with a lot of criticism, especially from the Greater Accra Regional Organizer of the NDC Anthony Nupkenu.

But Nii Amassah Namoale while commenting on recent issues plaguing the NDC noted that “I have my own report as to why we lost the elections especially in my constituency and I can confirm that my regional executives have hand in my defeat. People like Anthony Nukpenu have masterminded my defeat and you can call him and ask he is my regional organizer, ask him if they have been to any of my campaigns, so they have contributed to my lost” He accused Anthony Nukpenu of going on radio to claim that he Anthony did not understand why La Dadekotopon constituents kept voting for a “useless man” like him. Say Namoale as he is affectionately called maintained that he has a lot of text messages compiled to present to Pro. Kweso Botcwey led Committee soon, which will reveal why the NDC lost in the La Dadekotopon Constituency.

Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Regional Organizer of NDC Anthony Nupkenu has denied the allegations. He told Bright Kwesi Asempa that Namoale caused his own defeat when he failed to reconcile with supports of those who contested him during the primaries, adding that “His defeat was self inflicted, he was not in good terms with a lot of people and he was not able to unite his constituents, that was his downfall, I sympathize with him for all the investments he made”
