The Greater Accra Regional Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anthony Nukpenu, says some greedy party faithful who are not satisfied about what they got when the party was in government have resorted to running down the personality of former President John Dramani Mahama.

Their interest, he said, is to become either flag bearer or a national officer of the party.

Some of the people who are caught in this act, he added, are NDC Members of Parliament (MPs), national officers of the party and former appointees as well as those seeking to become flag bearer of the party for the 2020 general elections.

“The greedy people who are not thinking far want to destroy Mahama. The self centered people who served in Mahama’s administration and not satisfied with what they got are the ones who want to see his back. If you want to be a flag bearer of the NDC, you should know what makes a flag bearer. It is not about destroying somebody that will make you a flag bearer. If you think of becoming a national chairman, General Secretary or what have you, don’t think that destroying Mahama will get you that post”, he noted.

Interacting with Akwasi Nsiah on Si Me So on Kasapa 102.5 FM, Wednesday, the Greater Accra Regional Organizer of the NDC said bastardization of the former President Mahama’s personality will not augur well for party cohesion, especially, at a time the party is seeking to rebuild and position themselves for the 2020 general elections.

“No matter what it is, John Mahama – whether he has done wrong or good – it is only up to us to rebuild the party. It is not about him [John Mahama] but the NDC. And so, if you are thinking about his personality, don’t forget that he has led the party before. No matter what it is, John Mahama’s name remains as a President of Ghana. Yes, there were excesses in his administration personally and humanly, but collectively as a party, we need to put ourselves together and tell ourselves that the milk that we were all enjoying small small but because of our individual parochial interest and struggled for the milk to spill away, we cannot continue to be around that spilt milk”.
