The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has been accused by aggrieved traders of prioritizing members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the allocation of rails course market stalls within the metropolis.

According to an aggrieved trader who called into Nhyira FM to corroborate claims by his colleagues, traders who are supposed to access the stalls have been ignored by the Assembly whereas New Patriotic Party members and supporters are enjoying it.

Yaw Afari alleged on the station, the stalls are occasionally shared during late hours under the supervision of the party’s vigilante group Delta Force on their blind side.

“KMA used members of Delta to share the stalls to NPP members. Some of them come from outside Kumasi”, Yaw Atari told sit-in-host, Papa Nyameke.

“We went to the city market coordinator to register our displeasure the way things are being done but we were ignored”, Yaw Atari stated.

Scores of traders on the Monday morning spent long queues in a bid to secure better places for their trading activities.

The KMA relocated traders and drivers in the Central Business District of Adum, Kejetia, Pampaso, S.A.T and Dr. Mensah to rails course and Abinkyi markets, which has the capacity to take over 4,000 traders.

The exercise is also to help ease the heavy vehicular and human congestion, and to also pave way for some rituals to be performed as part of activities marking the final funeral rites of the Late Queen mother of Asanteman, Nana Afia Serwaa Kobi Ampem II.
