The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi has backed the decision by the Deputy Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Henry Nana Boakye to contest as the party’s National Youth Organiser.

Spokesperson of the Regional Chairman, Yaw Opoku Mensah has announced.

“The regional executives of the party including the Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako support Nana Boakye to run for position at the national level,” Mr. Mensah hinted.

According to the spokesperson of the regional chairman, the leadership of the party in the region are in full support of the aspirant because of his affability and dynamism.

“He is affable and dynamic who can do the work,” Mr. Mensah said.

Meanwhile, the Coalition of Youth Organisers of the party in the Northern Region has pledged their allegiance to Nana Boakye as the next National Youth Organiser of the party.

At an emergency meeting, the group promised its unflinching support to his candidature indicating that he is best placed as a successor to Sammy Awuku who is seeking to be a National Organiser of the party.

According to them, in a statement issued and signed by Muctar Fataw, leader and spokesperson of the coalition in Tamale said the party stands a greater chance of benefiting immensely from his wealth of experience as a youth leader in various spheres.

“He contributed to propel the electoral victory of the party as a communicator and a field marshal in the run-up to the 2016 general elections.

“We need a unifier and someone who is tried and tested, we have found out that among all those who have so far shown their faces, he stands tall and when we mandate him, we are assured the best for the youth front of the party.

“Many at times the youth front breaks down after congress because some of the elected officers lose touch with the grassroots making it impossible to rekindle the spirit,” the statement said.

Mr Boakye, who is the current Deputy Director in Charge of Operations of the National Service Scheme, is believed to be the strongest contender for the youth leadership of the party and has already promised to give off his best in revitalising the youth front and strengthening structures to whip up the spirit of NPP youth to win future elections in the country.
