Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akuapem North, George Opare Addo
Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akuapem North and and National Youth Organiser hopeful of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) George Opare Addo has described the managers of the economy of the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government as incompetent and confused.
He described the ‘one-year of change’ by Akufo-Addo led administration as the worse so far in the country’s history. He criticized the current administration for poorly handling the economy.
According to the former MCE, the current government created an illusion of a ‘better economy’ once they come to power during the 2016 campaign yet after a year of running the economy, it has become evident that the previous administration were better managers of the economy.
“It would be very unfair to access a government who has a 4 year mandate over a period of one year, however it has become very necessary to interrogate the activities of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because of the blistering criticisms they made of the Mahama-led administration. They deceived Ghanaians that they would be better mangers of the economy” he said.
“One year of Change yet they are reaping the fruits John Mahama sowed. Clearly they have made no investments in the oil” he stated.
He insisted that the increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) being touted by the current government as one of their achievements is a facade.
“If you want to access the competence of the managers of the economy, take out oil revenue. If you take out the oil revenue of this current government, you would realize that the previous administration did better even with their Economic Messiah, Bawumia” he added.
He concluded his submission on the political show ‘Your Take, Our Take’ on Homebase TV by saying “Their Economic Messiah, Bawumia is sleeping……Ken Ofori Atta is confused”.
