Stephen Ntim declares intention to contest NPP Chairmanship race

Former Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Stephen Ayensu Ntim has declared his intention to contest for the national Chairmanship position should the party open nominations.

He says though it is too premature to start any form of campaigning, he is making it clear that he is going to contest for the national Chairmanship position of the party for the third time.

Members of the New Patriotic Party will go to Congress in 2018 to elect National Officers.

Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, the Board chairman for Lands Commission indicated that with his vast experience in party politics and grass root organization, he is fit for the job.

"You know as a former 1st Vice Chairman of the party, I have dealt with party members at all levels and I know how to deal with them when it comes to party organization and structure."

According to him the Party needs such experienced hands to ensure its continuous stay in power for the development of the country.

Though the party has just started with the processes to elect party officers at the polling station and constituency levels, he has promised to support all the processes to the end.

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), held its Extraordinary National Delegates Conference to consider various proposed amendments to the party’s Constitution.

The event, held in Kumasi was a follow up to the Annual National Delegates Conference at Cape Coast in August this year, at which various proposals were made for amendments to the party’s constitution.

Tens of thousands of delegates supporters and sympathisers of the NPP from across the country, trooped to the Heroes Park, with some of them turning up in the Ashanti Regional capital as early as Saturday.

They were joined by a number of the party’s bigwigs, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Members of Parliament, Ministers of State and many of the national, regional and constituency executives of the party.

Various amendment and proposals were made in the party's constitution as they prepare to elect party officers.
