Tension is brewing among the Disciplinary Committee members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region as the Committee Chairman, Dr. Richard Amoako-Tuffour has been accused of taking unilateral decision to sanction some members of the party.

“We are not happy of all these developments. …some of us will not sit down for this to continue. …if you are chairman of this Committee you cannot do things or sanction people in your own accord”, First Vice Chairman of the party in the region, Kwabena Nsenkyire fumed.

“You need to consult all the Committee members before you can take a decision against anyone”, he pointed out

“Dr. Amoako-Tuffour is full of malicious things but trust me, he cannot do them without my support”, he revealed on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM’s morning show hosted by Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin.

“Let me tell Dr. Amoako-Tuffour that with all his mafia against us he is now exposed. …we will not sit unconcern for him to do what he is doing”, the Ashanti Regional NADMO Director stated.

According to Disciplinary Committee Chairman, he has received a petition from a member of the party against the party’s Constituency Chairman for Nhyieso, Mr. Joe Card and has therefore taken decision to suspend him.

However, mynewsgh.com’s Kwabena Danso-Dapaah checks at the NPP’s Regional Secretariat has that the party has received no petition against the Nhyieso Constituency Chairman, Mr. Joe Card.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Constituency, Hon. Kennedy Kankam, therefore, is challenging Dr. Richard Amoako-Tuffour’s sole decision and authority to sanction members without recourse to the laid down processes.

“Who is that Amoako-Tuffour taking a sole decision to sanction people in the party just anyhow”, former Regional Organizer quizzed.

“Let me tell him that NPP is a party of rule of law. He cannot sit where he is sitting and think he can sanction people just like that”, the lawmaker fumed during a telephone interview on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM show.
