It appears former President Mahama may not have a field day in his desire to take over the reigns of leadership of the National Democratic Congress in his bid to attempt the Presidency one more time.

This follows the expression of interest by several high profile candidates in the party seeking to, and touting reasons why they remain better options for the party going into election 2020.

As the party sets December 7, 2018 as the date to elect its flag bearer, many who had hinted of contesting for the position are now allowed to make their intentions legitimate by communicating such intentions officially to the party. One of such persons is lawyer Elikplim Agbemava.

The astute lawyer became a household name shortly after appearing on GhanaWeb's '21 minutes with KKB' where he made some critical revelations about how members of the NDC are bearing the brunt for the several mistakes former President Mahama made during his time as Commander-in-Chief of the country.

He added that several cases of corruption under the watch of the former president makes him unfit to lead the National Democratic Congress and indeed Ghana as a whole. He told host Kwabena Kyenkyenhene Boateng in that interview that if given the nod by his party, the NDC, he would lead with integrity, unite the party and galvanize the core base of the party for victory in 2020.

He is promising hope for the several grassroot members of his party, the NDC, if given the opportunity to lead even as he touts his ability to get things done in the interest of every Ghanaian.

In a letter addressed to the leadership of the NDC, Elikplim Agbemava said his desire to lead the NDC is borne from a desire to make the NDC "a strong political force for national development".
