Some delegates of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), have attest to the fact that, John Asiedu Nketiah personally told them he will contest for the fourth time as General Secretary of the umbrella family.

The delegates [identities withheld] said they are angry with Asiedu Nketiah for saying he will be ‘’General Secretary for life.’’

According to them, they want to be respected and not disrespected by any party leader.

The new constitution of the NDC makes provision for all former national chairmen and general secretaries to become automatic members of the NDC Council of Elders, so Asiedu Nketiah must elevate himself and not be humiliated at the elections, some of the angry delegates stated.

Meanwhile, some national executives who spoke on anonymity to Rainbowradioonline.com have pledged their support for Mr Anyidoho. About 70 per cent of the executives are also not happy with the decision by Mr Nketiah to seek re-election.

Rainbowradionline.com published an earlier story about an attempt by Johnson Asiedu Nketiah to force his closest contender, Koku Anyidoho to step down.

He has also asked some personalities to beg the Deputy Secretary to rescind his decision to contest him.

But speaking in a telephone interview on the matter, Mr Anyidoho told Kwame Tutu he cannot be bought by another and still in the race vying for the position and General Secretary.

He is advocating for party first, discipline and respect for party structures.

He also promised to desist from flamboyant campaigns and believes the delegates are buying into his campaign message.

The NDC is expected to go to its National Congress in October this year to elect national executives to preside over the party for a four-year term mandate.

After the national congress, the party will on December 7, 2018, elect its presidential candidate to lead it to victory 2020.
