Our 106 Parliamentary seats will be up by one in next sitting - 2nd Deputy Speaker

The second deputy speaker of parliament Alban Bagbin has revealed he's in high anticipation to welcome the Ayawaso West Wougon Parliamentary candidate to parliament when they resume in two weeks time to increase their numbers on the minority side by one.

Preparation in the constituency has gathered momentum as the two major political parties rally their members on health walks to signal their readiness to wrestle the vacant seat.

The Ayawaso West Wougon constituency seat became vacant after the demise of the NPP member of parliament Emmanuel Agyarko after a short illness.

The Electoral Commission has called for nominations which the NDC's Delali Kwesi Brempong and Lydia Alhassan of the NPP are set to battle it out on 31st January 2019 to serve the remaining two years before 2020 general elections.

At a walk held in the constituency on 20 January to arouse the enthusiasm, Alban Bagbin who is aspiring as the presidential hopeful of the NDC said "I want to assure all of you that parliament is ready and I'm ready to welcome our parliamentary candidate Hon Delali Kwesi Brempong to increase our number from 106 to 107".

He continued "the massive turnout is indicative of our readiness to take this seat.

The General Secretary of the party Johnson Asiedu Nketia has charged the party members to intensify the campaign in the constituency and to come out in their numbers to vote for the parliamentary candidate.

The Parliamentary candidate Delali Kwesi Brempong on his part said he's hopeful of taking the seat from the NPP assuring his constituents of his capabilities in ensuring a speedy development among which security is paramount.

"I'm taking this seat with a 60% vote margin to restore hope and ensure development for my people" he said in a sideline interview with Fred Duhoe a freelance journalist.

The Ayawaso West Wougon constituency has 137 polling stations which includes the premier university, University of Ghana Legon. Students are currently on recess and are billed to return on the day of election.
