I'll embark on an economic revolution if I become president - Goosie Tanoh

Goosie Tanoh, an aspiring flagbearer candidate of opposition NDC has stated that he would embark on an economic revolution to change lives and transform the Ghanaian economy if he gets the nod to lead his party and subsequently wins the 2020 presidential election.

He said he would do this by building a strong private sector, integrate Agriculture with industry to create tens of thousands of jobs for millions of unemployed youth.

"the first revolution in this country was a political revolution, if i become president in 2021, the country will witness another revolution, but this time it will be an economic revolution to create jobs for our men and women unemployed" Goosie Tanoh told voters in a meeting.

He said for the country to develop there was the need to build the private sector from scratch, therefore if given the opportunity to lead the party and subsequently the country he would ensure the private sector was equipped to flourish.

“If given the opportunity I will ensure I build the private sector from scratch because that is the only way we can address most of the problems facing us as a country”, he stated.

"When you talk about the private sector, the market woman at Ho, Agbogbloshie in Accra, Market Circle in Takoradi, Kejetia in Kumasi, the spare parts dealer at Abossey-Okai are all part of the private sector and I intend to work with all of them to change the face of this country economy".

Mr Tanoh told host of Volta Star breakfast show, King Freeman in an interview Thursday as part of final campaign tour to the Volta Region.

He said he would not support politics of family and friends as it was a major cause of under development in the country.

Mr Tanoh called on supporters of the NDC to uphold the values of the party in order to win the 2020 elections.

He said values of social justice, accountability and probity were gradually fading from the party, adding that it was a major cause of the NDC defeat the party in the 2016 elections.

“NDC wasn’t attractive during the 2016 elections because we didn’t stick to our values as a party, therefore if we don’t stick to our values in the forthcoming elections, there is every probability we would lose”, he said.

The flag bearer aspirant campaigned against vote-buying, saying “your vote is a sacred act that cannot be traded for anything”.

He stressed the need for the delegates to shun any form of inducement to vote for a particular candidate in the upcoming NDC presidential primary.

He said the future of delegates and their dependants would be badly affected if they allowed selfish politicians to buy their conscience, saying “don’t be intimidated by threats from anyone and don’t trade your votes for material things and money because your future is in your hands”.

Mr Tanoh said he would give power to the grass root if given the chance to lead the party as a flag bearer, adding that “real power will return to the grassroots if I am chosen”.

He said the party must chart a new path under the leadership of Mr Goosie Tanoh to restore hope to members and create jobs for the unemployed Ghanaian youth.
