The New Patriotic party (NPP) has called for the resignation of Samuel Ofosu Ampofo following his purported plot to mount attacks on some key personalities including the EC chair and President Akufo-Addo in a leaked tape.

The audio from a meeting held at the NDC’s headquarters after the scandalous Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections heard a voice believed to be that of the NDC chairman stating his strategy to help the party regain power in 2020 by targeting certain persons.

However, NPP’s Communications Director, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah at a press conference indicated that leaders of the opposition party have abandoned their responsibility towards Ghanaians and as such, decided to throw a rather peaceful country into disarray by their premeditated behaviour and pronouncements.

He established that the NDC, led by their chairman have orchestrated an attempt to damage an election which they are likely to lose.

Mr Asamoah also sounded a word of caution to members of the NDC to 'clean up their mess' in order to participate in the forthcoming elections.

“I believe the chairman must resign and the NDC must go out there and restore their rights to take part in the elections. If you listen to the entire recording, you would hear other supposedly responsible voices on that tape. People on that tape represent other spheres in government,” he established.

Background

Chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu Ampofo could be heard in a leaked audio stating that his approach to the forthcoming 2020 elections had changed completely in the wake of the violence that erupted during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

It has also been alleged that he (Ofosu Ampofo) together with some leaders of the opposition NDC plans to use tactical operation to make life very unbearable for certain key members of the society, specifically the ruling government.
