NDC office shooting: My innocent clients will be freed – Lawyer for Hawks

The counsel for three suspects who have surrendered themselves to the police in connection with the shooting incident at the Ashanti Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Evans Amankwah insists on the innocence of his clients.

He is optimistic the all three will be freed on Monday March 4, 2019 when the make an appearance before court after being denied bail by the police on Friday.

It would be recalled that Police in Ashanti Region declared 13 members of “the Hawks” wanted following the shooting incident at the NDC Ashanti regional party office.

The wanted persons were; Sani Mohammed alias Commando, Wayo, Element, Jah Rule, as well as Petit, Akon, Fayiz, Mallam, Rock, Hussein Barri alias ‘Warrior’, Midjima, Damos and Abu Taliban.

But three of them voluntarily surrendered to the Ashanti Regional Police Command and were detained to assist the police in their investigations, according to Ashanti Regional Police PRO, ASP Godwin Ahianyo.

He told the media the three are due for court on Monday March 4, 2019.

But Lawyer Evans Amankwaa who spoke to MyNewsGh.com clarified misinformation on some media platforms that the 3 who are his clients were arrested by the Police, explaining that his clients who are innocent voluntarily surrendered themselves to the police.

Though Lawyer Amankwah explained that though his clients names were part of the police wanted list that but they have never been part of the crime for which they were declared wanted and their images splashed on various media platforms.

He is optimistic that the law court will set them free when they appear before on Monday since they are innocent.

“Yes the police are saying the will send my clients to court on Monday. I think that’s the good way to go. I can boldly say that my clients are innocent and for that matter the court will set them free. They surrendered themselves, the police didn’t arrest them” he said.
