The Member of Parliament for Suhum Constituency in the Eastern Region, Frederick Opare Ansah has revealed some of the benefits member countries will derive from the ECOWAS after an organizational forum from the latter.
According to the MP, being a member of the organization helps in creating a common market and that, citing the Americans and East Africa as an example in creating a common market.
The Suhum MP, also a member of the ECOWAS MPs disclosed this to the media alongside the 4th ECOWAS Seminar held at Alisa Hotel, Accra on the theme; ‘’Public-Private Partnership; An Alternative Source of Funding for Community Programmes and Projects’’.
The conference well attended by the ECOWAS MPs was a delocalized meeting of Joint Committee focus on; Administration, finance, budget control, and Audit, Economic Policies, Private sector, and NDPAD, Trade, Customs and Free movement.
It was addressed by the Speaker of ECOWAS Parliament, Rt Honorable Moustapha Cisse Lo.
Opare Ansah affirmed that "as we share a common boundary with member countries there is the need to find a way to move along the borders with ease".
Again, he indicated that the root linking between countries needs to get into a good shape.
He stressed that "when we are able to link well with nearby countries, a good section of the road corridor from Lagos to Abidjan which is the first face serve as a good percentage to Ghana that is from Aflao to Elubo. When we are able to do justice to the West African roads, internally Ghanaians will benefit from it though it is done in the name of ECOWAS".
He added that they do their possible best as Parliamentarians to help accomplish their aim with immediate effect and for that matter, expressing readiness to promote their activities so that the Executive power will get to know what the public needs.
Opare Ansah added that they as parliamentarians need to fast track their effort to benefit the people.
In furtherance, he indicated economics of scale and the opportunities in the bigger market as some of the benefits member countries derive from ECOWAS parliament since he has being a member for the past eight years.
