Former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini has said it is ridiculous for any government machinery to make an attempt to explain the Senior Minister’s statement made about the Chinese illegal mining queen, Aisha Huang.

Alhaji Inusah Fuseini who is also a ranking member of Parliamentary Affairs explained that, since the Senior Minister Mr Yaw Osafo-Marfo is the third in command in the NPP government, no other minister has the capacity to explain or try to sideline what he says on government’s position about such matters.

“It’s quite ridiculous for anybody to think that a minister for Lands and Natural Resources can explain a statement by a senior minister. In any case was the senior minister under any compulsion to say what he said. Was he under pressure?” he retorted.

“Osafo Marfo is the only second senior minister the country has produced in the Forth Republic. He is number three in government after the Vice President and you think that a minister of Lands and Natural Resource has the capacity to speak for and on behalf of government to whereas Osafo Marfo did not have it? What do you understand by your conception of a senior minister? He quizzed.

Alhaji Fuseini’s statement was in a response to Mr Asoma Cheremeh’s attempt to explain comment made by Senior Minister Yaw Asafo Marfo.

What did Mr Osafo Marfo say?

Mr Yaw Osafo Marfo addressing a Town hall meeting in the US said jailing the galamsey queen Aisha Huang wouldn’t have solved Ghana’s economic challenges.

“Today, the main company that is helping develop the infrastructure system in Ghana is Sinohydro, it is a Chinese Company. It is the one that is going to help process our bauxite and provide about $2 billion to us,” he said.”So, when there are these kinds of arrangements, there are other things behind the scenes. Putting that lady [Aisha] in jail in Ghana is not going to solve your economic problems.

“It is not going to make you happy or me happy, that’s not important, the most important thing is that she has been deported from Ghana…” he added.
